Newcomer News & Events

Tuesday evenings, at 6:30, we have our Newcomer Game, perfect for those who are new to duplicate bridge.  There is a social group of players working on improving their bridge skills.  We are covering Declarer Play and will look at planning the play in a  notrump contract.  Lessons are from 6:30 to 7:00 followed by supervised play.  Thank you to Richard, Kate, Meryl, and Mark for filling out the partnerships.  Partnerships are guaranteed.

Zero Tolerance

The ACBL has an accepted code of bridge etiquette and ethics which make the game most enjoyable if everyone looks after their own behavior.  Here's the list from the ACBL website:  1.  Always maintian a courteous attitude to everyone, partner, opponents, director, and teammates.  2.  Do not express displeausre or satisfaction at a lead, play, bid, double or any other call parnter makes.  3. Always make sure any conventional bids used by you and your partner are alerted and clearly explained to the opponents when questioned.  Make sure your convention card is correctly filled in and available to your opponents.  4.  Always make bids and plays in tempo.  5.  Do not draw any inference from the fact partner has hesitated or bid with any special emphasis (we don't get to snap down a double card when it's penalty and gentlely place it  on the table when it's for takeout) 6. Always announce your skip bid or use the stop card and as the opponent please wait 8 seconds before you bid.  7.  Do not hesitate, either in the bidding or the play, in order to deceive the opponents. 8.  Do not prepare to lead to a trick before the previous trick is completed.  Do not play early. 9. Call the director at the first sign of an irregularity. 10.  Always use active ethics and full disclosure.  11.  It is not your duty to call attention to your own breach of law, such as a revoke made by you or your partner.

Barometer Game Saturday July 14th

Come play in our first open Barometer Game on the 14th  of July at 1:00 p.m..  Everyone will play the same boards at the same time.  You will instantly know who bid what and how your results compare with the rest of the players.  If you see a certain pair was the only ones to bid and make a slam, you can ask them after the game how their bidding went.  We'll have handrecords.  Table fees are $8.00 for this game. Please sign up.
