Newcomer News & Events

Tuesday evening at 6:30p.m. we will have a brief lesson on defense and next have supervised play until 8:30p.m. We want to welcome Mark and Nicole to the group who get to work on their bridge game in a relaxed atmosphere where they can ask for help during the bidding and are welcome to go over boards after the game. Thank you to Donna, Tim, and Meryl who come volunteer and support our Newcomers.

Absolute Beginner Graduates

Congratulations to our most recent class of bridge students and we welcome them to join us on Tuesday evenings at 6:30p.m. for Newcomer bridge. Mark has already come twice. Kudos to Judy, Eleanor, Kitty, Sofia, Bob, Beverly, Caroline, Andrea, Diane, Jane, Meryl, Lynn, Pat, Sally, Martha, Maureen, Matt, and Mark. Have a wonderful time pursuing your quest to become good bridge players.

199er Team Game/Lesson

^{Team games are a great way to
have fun and improve your game. In order to let those with under
199 points compete against their peers, we will hold one team game
a month, in November it will be on Friday the 9}^th^{and in December it will be on Friday the 7}^th^{.
We'll use a similar format to Tuesday night and let folks ask
questions during the bidding and after each round we'll discuss
the boards. We may have coaches for the teams so please let me
know if you interested in helping out. Table fees will be $10.00.}

Fall 2007 NABC San Francisco

For our newest players the ACBL has provided you with an exciting opportunity to listen to two top teachers and play bridge for free along with providing you a complimentary breakfast. Saturday, November 23^rd, Jerry Helms will speak at 10:00a.m. followed by a free game for those under 5 masterpoints Sunday, November 24^th, Barbara Seagram will teach at 10:00a.m. followed by a free bridge game for those under 49 masterpoints. Please let me know if you are able to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Tuesday, November 29^th, is Santa Rosa's day to volunteer. Please touch base with Kathy if you are able to help out. Jackie and Helene are in charge of the volunteer's hospitality which is provided as a thank you to those of you who volunteer. This includes a light breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food and drink need to be consumed at the hospitality suite. You are welcome to volunteer on another day and please let me know if you can. Have a fabulous time at the Nationals!

Count your blessings and your cards!

Please count your cards before looking at them. If no one has seen the cards the director shall correct the discrepancy and the board can be played normally. If a player has seen a card belonging to another player's hand the director must decide whether the information is consequential and whether it would interfere with normal bidding and play. If not, the board can be played as long as all four players agree. If the information will interfere or if any players objects to playing the board an artificial score will be awarded, A+ to the side who counted correctly, and A- to the side who miscounted. It will help everyone if you make sure to count your cards before looking at them.

Moving

Thank you to all who helped us move to suite 6. Beginning Monday, October 29^th games will be held in our new environment.
